The eight teams that will participate in IPL 2023 are:

- Mumbai Indians (MI): The five-time champions and the most successful team in the IPL history. They are led by Rohit Sharma, who is also their opening batsman and one of the best T20 players in the world. Their star players include Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.

These teams will compete in a round-robin stage, where each team will play 14 matches (seven home and seven away). The top four teams at the end of the round-robin stage will qualify for the playoffs, where they will play in a double-elimination format. The final will be held on June 4, 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The IPL 2023 auction, which was held on February 18, 2023, saw a total of 292 players go under the hammer, out of which 57 were bought by the eight franchises. The auction also saw some record-breaking bids and surprises.
